Interesting things happening in China. An article in the English edition of the People’s Daily on line is headlined, Decimal network security address begins operation: “China’s decimal network security address was officially launched. China has made a fundamental breakthrough in its Internet development; and actual use has been successful. The birth of decimal network technology makes China the only country able to unify domain names, IP addresses and MAC addresses into the text of a metric system…” Someone asked whether this was a rumored IPv9? It appears IPv9 is a project name, not a new protocol. It lumps together several activities, including at least… More…

John and all,

The nonrefundable $0.20 “FEE/TAX” for conducting Domain Name Tasting/front running will have little effect on Tasters in that Tasters will factor that cost in as their increase in conducting their errant business and that even more clever Tasters will simply deny those charges on their Credit Cards and rotate Credit Cards for doing such errant Tasting registrations.

We offered much better and actual suggestions as to actually stopping Domain Name Tasting/front running which Networksolutions was enguaging in claiming they were trying to protect their customers yet releasing those querried Tasting suspect domain names at a higher rate/cost. A direct approach in amending the RAA cintracts mandating REgistries, Registrars, and registration agreements for Registrants dis-allowing Registries and Registrars for enguaging in Front Running and/or Tasting themselves with immediate dis-accreditation, and dis-allowing Tasters identified for no less than one year and no more than Three years while legislation in the US can be crafted to address potential criminal penilities for enguaging in Domain Name Tasting/Front Running. An interesting service from myspace and career one, myspacejobs combines the might of the social networking space with the “country’s fastest growing employment site”. This article from adelaidenow suggests the importance of networking in building a career. Myspace makes a great eportfolio service and no doubt that is what many people around the world are using it for. As it continues to gather momentum we in the education space will continue to debate “really important” policy matters such as ‘how much space should we let them have, or how long should we keep the information, what rights shall we give them etc. Meanwhile all such notions are rapidly becoming irrelevant to anyone seeking a space to promote themselves and their abilities. Of course we can always point to negative uses of myspace and provide gems of advice such as ‘do you really want your potential employer to see pictures you put up of last weeks party etc’.
Feeling cynical today!
